It started with a trip home. When Michael TM visited Zimbabwe as a young boy growing up in the UK, he was struck by the vibrant energy all around him — colourful street markets, vendors selling freshly fried vetkoek, sugar cane and sweets in bright wrappers, the smell of roasted maize wafting through the air.

He wanted to buy everything. Back in the UK, he simply tapped his card and it worked. Here in Zimbabwe, it was different — cash only, and the currency kept changing. He turned to his dad and asked a simple question: "Why can't I just pay like I do at home?"

But behind that simple question was a bigger one that wouldn't leave him alone: How can a child ever be confident with money if the money itself keeps changing — its value, its look, even its name? What is the difference between money and currency? And how can a child learn to spend wisely, save boldly and give generously if no one ever teaches them?

So Michael did what most kids wouldn't dare — he turned his question into a pitch. He sat down with his dad, laid out his idea clearly, and proposed a solution: a prepaid card for kids, controlled by parents, that works in Zimbabwe.
